Blue Rodeo was tremendous, better than I expected.
It was mellow, no full drum kit, no electric guitars, just a black curtain behind them and acoustics mostly.
They opened with 5 days in May, and moved through some of their quieter tunes, and eventually most of the band left the stage, and Melissa McClelland came out and sang a duet, and then the three of them sang an acapella song.
An electric guitar came out, the curtain dropped and they started rocking out. As much as a bunch of old fogeys can rock out, anyways.
Towards the end of their set, a couple ladies got out of their seats, walked up to the stage and danced along. A security guy came over and asked them to sit down, I assume, instead one of them put her arm around him and kept dancing. After that, the band invited everyone to join the four ladies in front of the stage.
On to the encore, which began with Hasn't Hit Me Yet, and the crowd sang the first verse + chorus, and it was beautiful. It closed with the opening acts (Cuff the Duke, Luke Doucet + Melissa) to join in on Lost Together.
Fairly brief overview, but all in all a great show, even though I missed the opening acts due to transportation problems.
